THE AREA
Within fifteen minutes if leaving the village, you could cruise in our motor boat on Ullswater, climb Skiddaw or shop in Keswick. Also near by, is the Lake District and National Park, with its many attractions. Going further a field, Scotland or Blackpool are only an hour away. Other attractions you might consider in Hadrian’s Wall, and the many large historic estates in the area, which are easily accessible. Until recently a farmhouse called Whitbarrow Hall, the village nestles amongst the mature hardwood trees, rolling meadows of the Lake District, and has magnificent views of the Fells and the Pennines. It has grown to become one of the finest resorts in the area, but has retained intrinsic local character of The Hall and farm buildings, to create a unique atmosphere. The Carrock restaurant is on the ground floor of the elegant Hall with views into the gardens. It is furnished in keeping with the rest of the village - a mixture of style and informality in order for you to relax and enjoy your meal. However there is a marked contrast to the cellars below, where the bar is a traditional bar with oak beams, panelling and a glint of copper, which with the open fire, creates an atmosphere of friendly welcome.

THE APARTMENTS
On the first floor of the Hall there are the four Whitbarrow Suites, elegant one- roomed apartments, each having superb views over the gardens. The Old Coach House has been converted into four two-bed roomed apartments. Those on the ground floor being designed for easy access by the disabled. The remaining farm buildings have been converted into distinctive cosy holiday cottages, offering superb, accommodation, with excellent facilities. The conversions have now been complemented by holiday cottages, which are even more luxurious. Some have leather three piece suites, dishwasher, microwaves and even a spa- bath. All of the cottages have full gas and central heating and double glazing, for use at any time of the year. There is a utility charge for this resort.

DIRECTIONS
At junction 40 of the M6, take the A66 towards Keswick. Go the whole length of the dual carriageway (approx 5 miles) and continue for around 2 miles of single carriageway. Turn off by the Sportsmans Inn on the RH side of the road, where you’ll see a brown and white sign to Whitbarrow Village, off the main road. The resort is clearly signposted from there.
